when I was getting my MBA we were told that when you are purchasing a business you are purchasing a revenue stream- you then multiply that revenue stream to account for the time value of money and then you also have to pay for existing inventory, etc.

each industry has a specific multiplier- most between 1.5-3x.

There are days I would take pocket change and walk out of the door with a whistle. However, I am terrible at undervaluing myself, so I cannot come up with a reasonable number.

Right now, I don't even have a number to throw out as we're still growing, and I love what I do so much.  I've had to put everything on hold for the last 20 years for my hubby's military career so now that it's my turn I'm having so much fun.  Maybe in a few years I'll have a # for you.

Because of the profit margins in my business and the annual revenue we are making only being a couple of years old, it would take 4 or 5 million to takeover all the systems, equipment, lease, and clientele. Not to mention, I of course have some emotional ties invested in the business that add to that number a little bit. It is a luxury to enjoy what you do and what you have built

@isabelle How did I miss this questionโ€ฆ well for me to sell my business it would take around $750,00. One issue with my line of work is you never really own the people that come in to see me. 20 years of patients is a really huge list of people that could fill a phone book.

We are in our 50โ€™s and before Covid we were talking retirement.  When Covid hit and we found ourselves stuck at home with nothing to do we decided retirement was not for us.  We started our business from nothing and in our eyes have made it a successful business, so right now I donโ€™t think no amount would make us sell.  I donโ€™t think it is only the dollar figure, but the sense of building something and pride of making it succeed, I donโ€™t think there could be a dollar amount for that.
