Hi Dr. Carrillo,
It’s a pleasure meeting you on this thread. Your background is fascinating to me as an Ethnobotanist who specializes is paleoethnobotany and indigenous healing practices. I am trying to finish my studies in TCM but the pandemic and my business makes it challenging. I look forward to your future posts.

Hello there, I’m Yvonne Woodson, owner of German Village Acupuncture. I’m an RN and have been practicing acupuncture for many years. I see all kinds of patients, from cancer to a bum knee, but am also trained in Mei Zen Cosmetic Acupuncture, and will be featured in a Sophisticated Living Columbus magazine in a month! I am very excited for this exposure, as I think cosmetic acupuncture is a great alternative to more intense treatments and is the only cosmetic treatment that has actual health benefits because you’re getting a balancing treatment at the same time as enhancing your skin. Thank you for inviting me!
Sincerely!

Good Evening everyone. I'm Barbie. I began my foray into custom skin care 2 years ago. I have a minor in organic chem & extensive experience compounding. I was originally studying for DVM. Lots of reasons I chose a different path and went on later in life to get an MBA in another field. To make a very long and tragic history as short as possible, I got tired of nothing working on my daughters' (yes plural) cystic acne and knew I could do better than the garbage being presented in OTC. I worked in the beauty industry for more than 15 years and have national accreditation as an expert in my field by multiple large Corps.
I lost my first born to mental illness in July of 19 and sadly my online presence, my websites and my marketing show the effects of my intense grief. I have very loyal clients and often more work than hands.
Anyway.
Hi!!

Thanks for joining, @GlitzyCorpsLLC! I'm very sorry to hear about your loss; as a parent I can't even imagine how hard that must be. ❤️
In regards to cystic acne, it is so hard to find something that is effective but isn't super harsh on your skin. I've learned over the years some techniques to better treat my own acne, but it's pretty tough!

Thanks for inviting me, Adam. Thank you for acknowledging my Sun. So many choose to skim over that part and it is the very crux of my business. I donate a portion of every sale to Suicide Prevention Lifeline and in 2020, I was able to send them $1,437.
Acne is so hard because no one person has skin exactly the same as the other. The first thing I tell my clients dealing with acne is: "if you aren't willing to do the work, invest in products tailored to YOUR skin, and journal your journey, we are not a good fit."
It's also ridiculously hard because media has conditioned people there is a quick fix for everything and with acne, that is just not true. Mother Nature gave us everything we need, my job is to run analysis and manufacture what the Mother prescribes.
I should mention, I'm Native and 100% committed to organic products.
I don't even want to get started on the amount of education I've had to present on what ORGANIC actually is.
Here are some before and afters. It took almost 7 months to finally heal their skin.

Wow wow wow! So many things to applaud in this!!
First of all, your contribution to Suicide Prevention Lifeline is inspiring. How can we become a part of that? I'd love to contribute.
Second, your results photos are fantastic!
Third, I couldn't agree more about needing to really be clear about what organic REALLY means.
Thank you for all that you do. You're making QUITE an impact and it's beautiful to see.

Thank you so much! I wish it weren't inspired by pain but if it helps even one Mom not to be me... its worth it.
I try to be very clear with my clients that organic does not mean what the TV tells them it means. My lead in to that education is always this: Alcohol is organic. They are then suddenly very receptive to being taught.
The Lifeline: I set aside a portion of every sale and make quarterly donations. I also ask exclusively for my clients to donate in my Suns name when I won't take payment. (I do screenings, analysis, run labs and formulate, free of charge for pre and young teens whose mental health has suffered as a result of difficult skin.)
I gain no recognition from them because I do not want it. I want my Brandons legacy to be one of hope. This is how I change his association to death by mental illness, into his name being synonymous with "help is out there."
For Fun: if any of you are makers: tell your clients that salicylic acid doesn't exist without the human body and watch the look you get.
Don't laugh while they're looking at you!!

You seem like an amazing and powerful person! You are beautiful! In every picture! I know how damaging skin issues can be. I even went through Accutane as a teen due to desperation. I love the work you do and the impact you have. Keep it up. We need more like you🙂

You're welcome - and thank you for donating!
So very true about everyone's skin being different. For me one of the first things I needed to learn wasn't even medicinal - it was just to leave outbreaks alone. All that would happen when I would mess with them was they would leave scars and spread.
That's a really impressive progression, by the way! I'm glad you're able to share that kind of experience and ability with others. 🙂

I cannot tell you how many times I had to say "NO HANDS" I always shouted it so that their brains would begin to associate touching their face, with being startled. 🤣 I'm a good Mom I swear.

If you haven't already tried it, using a small amount of CBD topically on acne has been a game changer for many of my customers who have been lifelong sufferers of cystic acne. It has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties. Here is the link to one that I recommend for my customers:

YES! Acne, aging, Rosacea, eczema. Pretty much everything. I was incorporating it before the rave began. 🙌🏽
