pay by debit card option lost

Hi, for some reason customers are no longer able to click pay by debit card on my store. Used to be options pay credit card/debit card and paypal (with Stripe) I've checked with Stripe, they say this is a Weebly matter.  Customers are worried they can't pay by debit card and I'm losing custom. Is there a problem? How long to fix?

Yeh the 'debit/credit card' icon seems to have changed to just 'Credit card' which will put people off. Im not sure if stripe will still accept debit card payments if not then there are two issues:

a. The Icons

b. accepting debit cards!

I've not had a Stripe payment since 7th of august - normally i have them every day!

I suspect an isse!

I wonder if this is something to do with switching on Android/Apple wallets or introduced when this was released, regardless its bad marketing if we cannot accept debit cards and really needs sorting asap!

Hello mikeg! There shouldn't be anything keeping users from making the same payments as usual. What site have you been seeing that happen on?

Queso

Email sent!

I think this may just be down to bad wording and missing icon - the icon and wording should say 'this store accepts debit & credit cards & paypal' with appropriate icons not just 'this store accepts credit cards & paypal'!

so the simple solution to this is to add an icon saying 'Debit Card' (assuming Stripe still works with debit cards!)

Does it matter which site we are on? it's our weebly checkout on the estore and I assume it will be the same on any site. I received a response saying that there has never been a debit card symbol - but I swear that the icon saying credit card used to say credit card/debit card and that most likely its a graphical update? It's fine that folks can still use debit cards (I checked with stripe) but that's not a lot of use when it doesn't say so and our customers are giving us grief because they want to pay by debit card and can't see the icon supporting this!

Hi, I checked with Stripe and they do accept debit cards - they told me the icon thing was a weebly issue. The response I got from weebly was that they have never had a credit/debit icon... can't argue that point when it's no longer there but I swear it used to have one icon which says credit/debit and another which says paypal.

I agree it used to say debit/credit card - now it just says credit card - this is no use, it does put people off if they think they cant use a debit card. Also its on all my sites - so guess its everyones sites and to be honest it must take you 2 seconds to check the icom being used! We are not talking about a big change here girls and boys - just add another icon saying 'debit cards' and problem solved! (The more payment icon options the better in my opinion ).

Cheers Mike

Sorry for the confusion, guys. I checked with our Product team and we're going to be updating the checkout flow so it's clearer for customers that you can use both. I don't have an ETA on that, though.

it seems to be fixed - so well done to all you weebly people! Now take it a stage further and give us payment by 'other means' e.g. cheques, cash, bank transfer etc.! Oh and a customer login so returning customers do not need to type in their details every time! This is a necessity IMO for a proper online website!

I was actually looking to find this thread and had to dig in my email - we did update this to make it clearer for customers.

Yes and it has had an immeditate effect on my sales - stripe sales have once again vastly increased! It just shows how a tiny icon - can make all the difference for online sales - give the customers clear purchase information!
