The "cart" disappears while customer shopping

Hi everyone; I know this is probably a stupid question, but I have searched around and played with settings and am having trouble still.  I like to do 'test shopping' to make sure things are working right.  I noticed that when I put an item in my cart, the "cart" tab at the top disappears. I can't see what's in there until I go through the whole checkout process. I'm not sure why it's disappearing.  If I leave the transaction and keep shopping, I see the cart again. Is this normal or is there a setting I'm missing? I'd just like the top menu to show how many things are in the cart or am I answering my own question? LOL

If I'm understanding you correctly, this is an issue I've run into as well.  This happened to me when I had too many tabs in my navigation bar.  It left no room for the "cart" option to show up in navigation.  Once I reduced the number of navigation tabs (by combining them to the best of my ability), it opened up a spot for the "cart" to show up as a clickable item in the navigation bar.

Hi Briannatsp, thanks for your response.  I can see the "cart" tab except it disappears when I went into my site pretending to be a customer, and after I added an item to the cart.  Maybe because I was in the cart it doesn't show the "cart" at the top? I thought it was strange and wondered if I did something wrong.   I will play around some more with it, I think I may be overthinking this one! Thanks again.
