Paypal transaction ID's not recognised

Hi,

I'm in touch with support via live chat and they are going to email me back but am wondering if anybody has ever had the same problem that I am currently having or if there is any potential scam from it while I'm waiting?

I have Paypal as my checkout provider and has worked fine for several orders.  However today for 2 orders, the customer has paid by Paypal and a transaction ID is on my order screen.  Neither my customers or myself have received Paypal confirmation emails and the activity is not showing up in my account or in the customer's account.  I have contacted Paypal help and given them the transaction ID's from the order screens on my website and neither exist.  How can there be a transaction ID generated on Weebly but not exist on Paypal?

I am going to ask my customers to simply transfer the money via Paypal but has anyone heard of this or could this in any way be a scam anywhere?

I haven't heard of this happening before, @meoww999, though I'm glad you wrote to our support team. Do you know if your customers were sent to PayPal to complete the order?

Hi,

The support team just recommended checking my Paypal was connected to the correct account which it is.  However before they replied I had the Paypal confirmation emails come through around 8/9 hours after the transaction had been completed.  The activity and payments then showed up in mine and the customer's account about 15 minutes after receiving the emails.

Paypal weren't aware of any problems as I got the generic responses of checking details and email addresses etc.  When I Googled the issue however, I did find a couple of people who were using Shopify who had the same problem the day before me so would suggest it's a Paypal issue. 

It may be worth keeping an eye on as it certainly was a headscratcher with the transaction ID being generated and recorded in Weebly orders but then not recognised by Paypal in my account or via the helpdesk.  For it to suddenly appear hours later is strange and could've caused a double payment issue if I had asked for the customer to resend the payment!
