How can I add an animated gif to a product?

I don't want to embedded it lower down thepage, I'd like it in the selectable images, if this is not possible why on earth not, surely this is very common to want to do this?

Hi Joe. The type of media you are trying to use may not be available for your account type. What happens when you try to upload a .gif file?

The gif uploads OK but is not selectable as one of the images to show for the product

Animated GIFs are currently only supported by sites built using the newer website editor (newer Weebly online stores and Square Online Stores). You could add your animated gif using a regular image element in the long description area of the product page - something not currently possible with the newer editor. While editing the product, click the "..." button that the top and choose Save and View so it loads the product page in the website editor, then add an image element to the long description area.
