How can I change website thumbnail? It is defaulting to a certain photo on my site but I want to select a more specific photo/logo that represents our brand and makes a better first impression when sending the link to potential clients. I googled how to do it and found some code that includes the url for the photo that I want to use and placing that in the page header but didn't work for me.
WIth the classic Weebly drag and drop editor, you can specify a specific image by using a meta tag. Use this URL of an image file with the meta tag like this:
<meta property="og:image" content="https://www.google.com/someimage.jpg" />
Simply replace everything within the double quotes after content= with the URL of your own image, then add it the Header Code field in Settings > SEO in the website editor. You can also do this on a per-page basis by going to the Pages tab, clicking on a page, then adding it to the Header Code field found in SEO Settings. If you haven't already added the image to your site somewhere, you can also add it to a hidden page and then right-click on the image on the hidden page to copy the URL.
For sites built using the Square Online editor, you can do this for every page of your site within the website editor. Navigate to the page, then click on the gear icon on the left and choose Page settings. Go to the Social tab on the popup, then add an image to the Social image option. You can also set one for the whole site by going to Website > SEO & Social Media, click on Update social media, then adding an image on the Social tab of the popup.
Regardless of which editor you have, don't forget to publish afterward. You may also want to use the Facebook debugger to scrape your site again, since Facebook may use older cached images without doing that.
Hi @chloequinlan I moved your post over to this thread. Adam has a great answer pinned to the top of the thread here.
Please let us know if you run into any troubles.
I am sharing my website but two other photos appear. I would like my company logo to be the photo that appears when sharing the website link on iPhones and other things.

Before I started blogging at Weebly CMS.
My friends and some other said, it is hard to ooptimize your weebly content for search engine optimization but when I tried it, in start it looks difficult but soon it becomes easy.
For specifying image for sharing on social media you have to do nothing your post featured image or first image will be automatically specified.
Thanks sir it is relating to my problem with boardersguide

I just published my website ( https://www.sabrinacarlier.com ) and I am trying to share it across my socials and over text. However, whenever I share the URL, the title and URL appear with an empty white image. The cover photo on my website is what I would like to have as the preview image. I have read through a few existing chains looking for an answer but in application, they are not offering any solution for me. Can someone provide some details steps for me to figure this out?
Thank you

Hi @sc3 ๐
Facebook is not able to read background images. You will need to upload the image to another page on your website in order to add the code snippet to your site for the OG image. You can even make the page a hidden page if needed.
I moved your post over to this thread where other community members have asked a similar question. Please check out Adam's pinned response at the top of the thread.
Let us know if you still need help with this, and we'll take a look. ๐

Heres how you do it:
1. go to : https://smallseotools.com/open-graph-generator/
2. input your details then copy the whole code and paste it in your header.
done.
(for the image url, make sure you upload the picture you want to use somewhere in your website then go to the image on your website like a customer would and right-click to copy the url/address of the image.
these weebly employees dont know how to fix anything, had to find the solution myself. don't rely on Weebly employees. they're not trained well.

Something to keep in mind is that users who share links on social media typically want to do it quickly. They don't want to have to go through the extra steps of editing your link to add a custom image to share it with their friends. So, when uploading an image to share on social media, make sure that it is at least 300 x 300 px and less than 2 MB in size.
