Google indexing disaster
Hi,
Just I have looked at Google search console, and seen that most (33) of pages of my website (www.pearlew.com) can't be indexed because they have two blocked ressources:
> https://www.pearlew.com > /ajax/api/JsonRPC/Commerce/?Commerce[Checkout::getMiniCart
> https://www.pearlew.com > /ajax/api/JsonRPC/CustomerAccounts/?CustomerAccounts[CustomerAccounts::getAccountDetails]
I can't do anything about these settings, I think it's a problem of Weebly engineering. I hope a solution will be found quickly, then I have lost any of my positions in Google pages.
I have sent an email to french help support.........
What do you think of that?
Thanks a lot for your replies
Eric

I have a small local business and I'm almost completely dependent on Google search...
Just some observations from my side.
I report blocked resources in Google Search Console since June 27 (screenshot 1). The number of blocked resources mounted until end of July. Last weeb (August, 7) the number started to decrease again. All warnings in Google Search Console refer to the ajax script.
The rank of my most relevant keywords dropped in July dramatically - even though I didn't make any changes on my side. My ranking got better again last week. Looking at the two graphs, it seems possible that there ist some kind of relation betwenn the two issues.
I absolutely agree with Adam that blocking a script from indexing shouldn't make a difference. But it seems to be possible that it has affected the rank anyway.
If Weebly hasn't made any changes to the script / robots.txt it must be Google who has changed anything in the last couple of weeks: first by showing the warnings and decreasing my rating - since last week by correcting it again.
I'm quite optimistic that things return to normal now...

I wound up on this thread because my websites ranking has not just tanked, it has all but disappeared from search results. Google search console tells me I have 8 pages blocked because of this: /ajax/api/JsonRPC/CustomerAccounts/?CustomerAccounts[CustomerAccounts::getAccountDetails]
I searched and found this thread.
What the heck is going on? Does anyone have a fix?

Blocking backend scripting like that shouldn't have any effect on your ranking. In fact, simplying blocking regular pages wouldn't affect ranking in and of itself; it simply means that whatever is on those pages would not be indexed and would not be factored into your ranking. Since the URLs that Google is giving the warning about are just backend code, it wouldn't have any indexing value. Sorry for the confusion, @12733.

/ajax/api/JsonRPC/CustomerAccounts/?CustomerAccounts[CustomerAccounts::getAccountDetails]
I have the exact same problem and have lost ranking and my website trafic has decreased steadily since March this year. Since 11th August my blocked pages have gradually increased from 0 to 44/53. Hence, my small business has been badly effected. I used to get regular contacts (leads) via email and these have virtually disappeared.
Although all my pages have been indexed, I now find many of them do not complete a google fetch and render! There is definitely a major problem that needs sorting out urgently.

Can you give an example of a regular page that doesn't complete a fetch and render?

Strange - try having it fetch them again. I wonder if there was some kind of network error that prevented it from reading those pages.

Way too late responding! Now I've spent the whole week trying to sort out why my website trafic has been dessimated. I've taken many steps to improve seo, on all my pages, updated content and converted to https. Now Im trying to get all the new pages indexed but only allowed a few a day. Traffic has totally bombed! What's taken me 5 years to build up into a slow trickle of local business seems to have dissapeared. It's frustrating too, that although my prefered target has always been set to the uk, which used to work, now I mainly get US, Canada and the rest of the planet, but my business is in the UK. What's the point of that? How do I get it back? I know it's something set up in google search console and not directly a weebly issue, but it really means my website has become a useless waste of time.
Sorry for the rant, but I could have done with your help a week ago. Mostly when I come onto this community I am not even allowed to login. Occasionally, I am randomly automatically logged in. Another frustrating problem? Why is that? A network error? any ideas?

I'm sorry for the frustration @oldamps. When you try to log into the community do you ever get an error? Have you tried logging in from a brand new browser by any chance?
Regarding the fetch errors, did the error say unreachable or unavailable? Are you able to post a screenshot of what you are seeing on Google's end? Thanks!

It just let me log in. Here's a picture of the http site page fetch and render from webmaster tools. It may help understand the problem.

Thanks for the screenshot. It looks like the one was from a typo somewhere since it has two // slashes in front. I'm not sure what Google was following where it found a link with two slashes, though. The other two must have been some kind of temporary issue. Can you try a new fetch of those two pages?

Thanks,
You picked up on the obvious, though if you look one above you will see I re-fetched it immediately after the copy/paste error (hotpup 5e3). The problems were occuring at a time where all my website page timings were increadibly slow, and I was investigating. I think they loaded so slowly that the google bots timed-out! Some page timings were coming up 16-24 seconds! The rendered image showed the page was not fully downloaded. I think now with the changed theme, advised by Angie, with the more responsive code has sorted that out for now. As I said before, this conversation is a bit redundant now as I have moved on, but thanks for your response, it is appreciated. I will try fetch and render on the new https version.
Cheers,
Andy

Hello again,
I still haven't heard anything regarding my other post a week or so ago. It's connected with the indexing disaster, at the bottom of this thread:-

I would appreciate your views on the decline over the past year.
Thanks,
Andy

No fix as such, tried everything I was advised to do except paying up. Changed to a more responsive theme, ssl switch, updated content, re-did all page titles and key meta words and still nowhere near my position 10 months ago.
Is your site a free hosting or paid? Mine is free and I think that's the problem, as I am told that google bots interpret sub-domains of weebly as vanity sites and of no significant interest to search engine users.
As for vanity websites, well all my efforts lately on my site seem to have been in vain!

I can't say what Google thinks of a Weebly subdomain vs a custom domain name, although I imagine there's a lot of factors involved with that beyond just being a subdomain or custom domain. A custom domain name does look more professional, and has the potential to be indexed better I would think.

My web traffic has bombed too! I went from consistant regular order to nothing!
It all started around january/ febuary last year and it will not not improve for love nor money.
I upgraded my account to a performance site hoping this would help but it hasn't.
Weebly had until this years subscription is up and if it isn't back where it was, i'm off; Not only has it decimated my online sales, I have noticed an impact on my in store sales as well!
