Need help with Customer login/password

I have a database of customers i would like to assign a username for their current database number i have and not require an email address. I would also like to pre assign a password for their account using a number set i already have pertaining to their current account. 

The membership area does not have allow much freedom. how can i do this on my site?

Our membership features currently only work with using an email address and password, and not a username. You can set a password for your customers, though, when creating their member.
