Including TLS on my website?

Yesterday I started posting a link to my site to some forums online.  A user on reddit asked me to update my site to include TLS.  To be honest, I have no idea what that is.  My knowledge of creating websites is extremely limited.  Is TLS related to SSL?  I just went into settings and enabled SSL, and it said it was working on it and to check back later.  Once this is done, will TLS be on my site?  Or is that something different?  If it's different, is it possible to turn it on, also?

FYI -- I only turned on SSL a little while ago.  But after doing it, the person on reddit said it is still not working for him.  Here's the thread.

Hmm.. the browser they are using may be cached. Can you have them try opening in a different browser or in private/incognito mode?
