How can I get Sort by Popularity to update?

When I first set up my Square store, the Sort by Popularity option would regularly update, but then it stopped, and has shown the same items in the the same order for over a year. I would like for the most popular items to appear first, and less frequently sold items to appear further down the page. Is there a minimum amount you need to sell to trigger a resort?

Update: It started working again spontaneously (have no idea why) which was fantastic, and was great to see every time I went to my shop. Then after a few months it stopped working again. Every time I go to my shop all page and see it hasn't updated, it's so disheartening. I know it's a feature that can work because it has before, but why does it stop? When I've called CS they don't know and shrug it off. Is this only happening to me?
