Weebly doesn't work in Russia

I have a Russian user reporting to me that my site is blocked there too. I verified that both weebly.com and my site made with Weebly is blocked in Russia using this tool:

Can you submit a ticket to our Customer Success team about that, @weeblyuser121, if you haven't yet done so? Sorry for the trouble!

Just used the Help Center->Contact Us page to submit a message, not sure it's considered a Support Ticket though.

That does create a ticket - thanks for doing that, @weeblyuser121!

Yes, weebly.com and my site are not working in Russia (only via VPN)

I checked the blocklist issued by Russian government http://blocklist.rkn.gov.ru/, but ip addresses and domains are not blocked! I also wrote a complain to official e-mail of Roskomnadzor but haven't received an answer yet.

Even Yandex says that domain is not reachable.

Maybe, the problem is related to some other issue?

Since recently I have the same problem. My site can not be accessed from Russia, but it works well from any other location through VPN. Should I ask for a coupon?

For me it is the same. I opened a ticket and got the answer that weebly due to terms of service and to security reasons blocked access from diffrent countries. The don't want to give a list of the countries due to the terms of use. Also the block should be permanent the customer service told me.

This is really inadequate behavior!

Our sites do not work in Iran(81 million population), Turkey(80 million population), Russia(144 million population), and Sri Lanka(22 million).

Wikipedia says Ukraine(45 million population) is blocked

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weebly#Censorship.

So at a minimum our sites can't be seen by 372 million possible people or about 5% of the world population.

It is crazy but I realized only yesterday that my website was not showing properly in Russia & Ukraine.

My clients and firends have been reporting many times that they cannot open the website (but some occasionally could), so I thought maybe it is something with Mac systems? I use PC. on top of that my website disappeared from google and hasn't been in search there at least since fall which I found out by chance trying to understand why the traffic is so low.

Weebly rep told me that they've put a ban on visitors from Russia and Ukraine since October 2018. I am shocked!!

No wonder why it is so low as part of my expected clientelle is from those countries.

anyways, I am puzzled and frustrated with all this. and there is no guarantee it will improve.

Also if I switch to WP or some other providor, what is the guarantee the website will be working in Eastern Europe and other countries?!

any advice?

I'm so sorry, Tatiana. It was a very sudden change and we still have limited information regarding the decision. If you want I can create a support ticket to our policy team for you.

Its a massive issue for me with a store and blogging. Most of west Africa is blocked. The weebly platform is clearly so insecure they fear attacks from a lot of countries. Which is just madness.

I asked the scared policy team which is no doubt 100% staffed by paranoid American developers for a list and got told its secret. I mean wtf!? So i cannot blog or even update my store, which i pay for in most of the countries i visit. I've had to VPN round this but this still leaves my customers unable to see my site in about half of Africa.

hi there,

well I'm still puzzled with all this as I've put years of work into creating a few websites (I am not a pro at that, just was adapting templates) and now have to shift all my websites to another provider. I find it frustrating to some extent.

So yes maybe it would be good to create a ticket for that, I'd appreciate help on understanding how to transfer a couple of websites to the WP platform including a website which has a blog on it with some likes on the posts (I already lost all likes there on a couple of interviews Smiley Sad, some got restored but not all the posts). It is a non-commercial creative project so it is not easy to find a budget for it right now.

Hi Tatiana. You can create an archive of your site from the Settings menu, but it will only include your uploaded images and files. I don't believe there is a way to easily archive and move the blog posts, unfortunately. I do recall that WordPress has their own migration tool, but I've never used it before so I can't speak to how well it works. If you Google "Weebly to WordPress migration tool" you should see what I'm talking about. I'm very sorry the service will no longer work for you.

My site is blocked in Ivory Coast now, perhaps more African countries. Absolutely no information available from Weebly and no response after emailing their support team (despite promises of 24/7 support for pro users).

It looks like I'm going to need to migrate to another host, but I lost 2 months this summer migrating from Google Sites and paid for 24 months of hosting! This is a terrible situation.

Hi @JustinCH We do not offer 24/7 support. Are you using Weebly through a third party host? That said, Weebly is not accessible in all areas of the world. I'm very sorry if you were provided inaccurate information.
