Here in NZ some retailers have had trouble with PayPal which is the only option in this part of the world .  It is not widely liked.  I would much prefer a simple Mastercard/Visa option. Stripe, Square and authorise.net are not available here so there is no alternative to PayPal.

Stripe is currently in private beta in NZ, so while I don't know when it would happen it should be available in NZ at some point in the future.  In the meantime, I'd recommend turning on Guest Checkout at PayPal, that way people can use a debit/credit card to pay through PayPal without needing a PayPal account.
