Modifiers that can pull different inventory quantities

For my store I have pendants that customers can choose if they want to have as a necklace or on earrings. However, there is no feature right now for modifiers to pull more than 1 from the inventory. Which leaves 2 options, either accept that for every order of earrings I'll need to update inventory manually; or ask customers to add 2 earrings to their shopping carts, a clunky user experience. Being able to have modifiers change how much inventory is pulled would be the perfect solution for this.

Thanks for your post, @OAmandaPanda

Modifiers are designed to simply modifier an existing item from inventory, rather than be separate variations which have their own inventory counts. It sounds like you might want to set up variations for. your item so each variation can have its own inventory count instead.

@Adam

No I looked into varriations and that will not work because the items are being pulled from the same inventory; the difference being sometimes 1 will be pulled, and sometimes 2 will be pulled. It is coming from the exact same inventory so modifier is the appropriate cateogry to work with.

Is there additional clarification you need to understand?

I don't think there's really a way to do what you want and have modifiers change the quantity of inventory purchased.  Your necklaces and pendants are add-on items to something else, right?

@AdamYes the products are the pendants. When a pendant is attached to a necklace (a modifier) 1 should be removed from the inventory. However when the pendants are attacked to earrings (a modifer) 2 need to be removed from inventory. As necklace chains and earring clips are not the things I'm keeping tack of. This is very important as I do not want to have a clunky interface for the customers and I want to keep my inventory correct. Adding the ability for modifiers to remove 1 or more instead of just assuming they will remove 1 from the inventory would solve this issue.

Ok, thank you for clarifying - I can see why lack of inventory management with modifiers won't work for you. Hmm... I guess one thing you could do in the meantime is use modifiers along with a note to let customers know they need to actually add a pendant or pendants to their cart as separate items.
