Google posted in their security blog that they are making changes to the Chrome browser such that they are phasing in that any site that is only http and not https (not using ssl encryption) will be prominently flagged as insecure. The "Not secure" flag will show up in the address bar right next to the site address in bright red eventually. The change will start in January 2017, although they did not specify when it would be fully rolled out to all sites.

Thanks for sharing, @atomicsupergeek. I suspect that Google will take a while to roll this out, and it's currently only going to be something of a concern to people using Chrome as their browser.

Sorry, Adam but in that case I totally disagree!
Having encrypted websites is not about "people using Chrome" it's about safety of the whole internet!
Since there are free and easy to get certificates from "Let's encrypt" available, there is no excuse for Weebly not to offer them!
And look at your competitors, encrypted websites for all plans are comming.

The Chrome Gorilla has spoken.
It's here. I got 5 notifications yesterday and expect plenty more today. Anyone with a weebly form on a page is getting this notice. . This is a big problem and to expect all my cloents to pay an additional $15 simply to have secure forms is ridiculous. We need a solution asap!

Looks like this is the first part starting in January....
" Starting January 2017, Chrome 56 will label HTTP pages with password or credit card form fields as "not secure," given their particularly sensitive nature."

Hey there NJRFTF!
That is definitely worth keeping track of! Our checkout pages for Weebly stores go through an HTTPS page, so there shouldn't be any major changes there. As a reminder, definitely don't put that kind of sensitive information in a regular form!

This is a huge problem for me as I have upgraded to PRO but are you now expecting me to upgrade another level because of FIREFOX and CHROME not allowing pages to be accessed without the HTTPS?
This should have been discribed to me before I made the current purchase!
What am I supposed to do now and why aren't you notifying your customers that the only package that will work online is the packages above PRO?

Hello! Sorry for any confusion, we are currently working to expand SSL to be available to all Weebly users. You wouldn't need to upgrade in order to be online.
