taxes not being charged in online store

I have set up items that should be taxed when someone is purchasing an item online. However, when they go to check out, tax is not being charged.  I've looked through all the settings and everything seems to be right.  I've tested and retested and still no tax is being charged even when I have it set up to charge tax.  Please advise.

Thanks for your post, @apexbodyworx. It looks like you only have tax set up for a single state, so if someone orders from another state it will not charge sales tax. You have a couple options right now. One is to add manual tax rates for any other state in which you intend to ship. The other option (and better, in my opinion), is to enter in the address of your business in Settings > Taxes at the top, then upgrade and use our auto tax calculator so it takes care of all of that for you.

Ok....made the recommended change.  However, if someone is ordering for pickup in AZ, it should be charging the taxes regardless, which it is not doing. When I try to purchase an item online, and try to change it to pickup, it gets locked in a virtual spin that won't stop.  I've tried on different devices with the same outcomes.

Hmm... Can you try publishing the website again? It looks like it hasn't been published for a few weeks, and I'm wondering if that will resolve what you are seeing.

I have an online store of fall flowers that people purchase/reserve online then come pick up. It will calculate the taxes correctly (see screenshot) but will then total and charge their credit card and not include the tax? I have checked to be sure none are marked exempt. Please help? Screen Shot 2020-08-16 at 2.16.26 PM.png

Sorry to hear that. I moved you to a thread that might help solve your issue. Can you try @AdamB's tip above?

Let me know how it goes.

Yes ours does this too!! It shows it on the checkout site (just like pictures) but then doesn’t add it up to the total. Republishing didn’t helpA8938257-2D09-4936-964E-2D2A9C2F736E.png

I have my weebly setting correct but my store isn't charging sales tax to anyone except for orders that come from the state where my business has an address.  Can anyone help me figure this out? I need to fix it quickly because orders keep coming and no one is being charged the sales tax.  Thanks!

Thanks Justin, I am currently set up to use the auto tax calculator but tax is still not being charged on orders.  As an example, I just shipped 2 orders to NY.  My business location is in Michigan.  It did not charge tax to the 2 orders that went to NY.  But I know that law states NY is a state that is legally required to charge and pay sales tax.  I know this because I also have an Etsy store and Etsy pulls tax and sends it for several states, including NY.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Adding a tax rate isn't possible since I'm an online store and could not possibly add the sales tax rate for every county and state in the US.

Hi Shellystraub, did you ever get this resolved?  I am having the same issue and nothing I've tried has worked.
