my square terminal is not responding to touch on anything

This morning, one of my employees was trying to check out a customer. The square terminal touch screen is not responding - to anything!  It does not respond to anything but the on/off button on the side of the terminal.

 

What's up with this?  Does this mean it bit the dust and I have to buy a new one?

I disconnected it a couple of days ago, the screen had the normal library screen up so we could check out.

The problem was, when we tried to enter dollars, or change screen, it was frozen.   

 

Sorry, can't figure out how to send you pic, but there was nothing out of ordinary. 

 

After it sat on the counter for a day, it suddenly started working again.

Glad to hear your Square Terminal is working again now, @Dena! If this happens again, it's a good idea to give your device a reset. Here's how:

 

1. On your Terminal, tap ≡ More.

2. Go to Settings > Hardware.

3. Tap General > About Terminal.

4. Scroll down to Factory Reset > Confirm Factory Reset.

5. Tap Reset one last time. A countdown will begin and your terminal will reset. Keep in mind you will need to connect the terminal to the internet again once it restarts, and sign into your account. 

 

If the touchscreen is unresponsive, hold down the power button for 30 seconds, or until you see a black screen with a countdown timer. Keep holding down the power button on that timer goes to ‘0’ and the screen says you can release the power button.
