When running a sales report, the print becomes gobbeltygook

Just set-up square register with ipad, stand, register, and Epson printer.  Everything seems to be set-up correctly.  Tested multiple receipts, etc.  When I run a sales report (typically end of the day report), it starts to print correctly, then becomes coding gobbletygook - like what would come out of emoji vomit.
