Unable to setup truly MOBILE location - requires Address

I made a big mistake (I think) when initially setting up my Square account and offered pickup. I am a sole proprietor and my business is in my home. My engraving business is MOBILE - I attend horse shows and expos, etc. and sell online with SHIPPING only. I do not want to broadcast my home address.

Initially, I thought ‘pickup’ meant they’d pick the item up at my booth when it was ready. My items aren’t off the shelf - each item is custom engraved. That takes time.

Anyway, when I realized my error, I changed fulfillment to just shipping, and disabled  pickup on all my items (leaving shipping as the only option on each catalog item). I changed my location to ‘mobile’ instead of physical.

But after doing all that, it STILL says I can’t sell or complete setup until I select pickup options?! I have verified that pickup is disabled in settings. My one active location is set to ‘MOBILE’.  But it won’t let me remove the address. If I try to set up a NEW location, it fills the address in automatically and won’t allow me to remove it.

do I need to just delete my entire account and start over from the beginning? This has been very frustrating to try to resolve!

Thanks in advance!

Thanks MayaP! Do you mean the URL?

https://offcoursehorseproducts.square.site/

or something else?

Since I posted, I have gone through my catalog, item by item, to ensure they all say "Shipping" as the only fulfillment method (in case a single product still said 'Pickup' was hanging it up. Everything says Shipping only.

Here is the screen that says I have one more step to go - set up pickup.

Hello @OffCourse, I did confirm with our team those steps are more recommendation based and are not required, to avoid confusion our team did remove it from your Dashboard. If you need anything else let me know! Have a great weekend! 👋😎

Than you.

I think my confusion is from using different devices to access my square account. My windows laptop with square logged in using a browser via the web seems to be quite different from the square POS app on my iPad. And it is confusing (at least to me that is); that the interface and settings, etc. aren’t all the same.

There seems to be two different ‘Pickup’ settings - one for POS and one for on-line. Perhaps for restaurants and other types of businesses where you order online and go pick it up shortly after that makes sense. But I just wanted pickup when I am mobile - like ar a horse show. I don’t want pickup on my website.

is there a way to do that? I see in my square POS that I have  installed the app to be able to schedule an order and select pickup. There is the SCHEDULE button in my checkout. But it requires all my items to have pickup as an option, right? And then, that would get translated to my web page, once I add pickup as a fulfillment method?

Maybe I am still confused! LOL In order to do that, would I set up a different location for use just as mobile that doesn’t have any items for shipping and they are just pickup? Or does that create two web sites or different locations on my website? I just don’t want my personal home address on the web for pickup location - I just want to offer shipping on Internet orders. But I want to be able to schedule orders/pickup when I am selling in person at shows and expos.

I hope this makes sense! 😄

Hi there, @OffCourse

You can definitely have more than one location, and no, it will not create a second site if you add multiple locations. 😊

After you make the second location, and assign items, you would just want to make sure that your Square Online settings reflect that the items are only available at one and not both locations.

Please let us know if you run into an issue with this.
