Trouble using 2 devices at the same time

I just ran a HS football concession booth.  I have 2 iPads running off of 2 different hotspots, both logged into my square account.  Each with different readers.  Tonight I had an order taken at one of my windows while a second order was taken at a different window at the same time.  When the first guy went to pay, it rang up the second guys order and paid for that.  Any ideas why that happened or what I have to do to not have it happen again?

We run 2 iPads from the same account, same hotspot and using the same location and have never encountered that. The only way I could think of how that would happen is if the order was saved to a cart and then the other iPad opened the saved cart.

Are you using open tickets?  I see no way for an iPad to get an order being rung up on another iPad without first saving an open ticket on unit 1 and then opening it on unit 2.  We run at peak 8 Square devices at the same time and process tens of thousands of transactions and have never seen something like that.

I use 2 Square stands and one Cell phone.  All 3 I setup with Device codes under one account.  Now when I log in to accept payments instead of logging in with my Credentials we log in to the device with Device codes.  I also have never had the other stand or device show a payment that was not assigned by it unless it was through my saved cart (I use Square for retail) or Saved Ticket in Restaurants I believe.

 

Anyway here is more information for setting up device codes.  :5586-manage-devices-by-location 

 

Now this says for setting up by Location but you can also use it in the same location.

Thank you.  I will definitely take a look and see about setting up device codes.  This is the first year we are using Square and I expected some learning curves with my volunteers.  I will have to go over not saving tickets or saving the cart. 

Total side note: Are in located in PA?  My mom has a house in Cove Haven.  🙂

yes we are located in East Stroudsburg, PA or about an hour south of Cove Haven, Pa.
