Salaried employee is scheduled to be paid incorrect amount in payroll preview. Why?
Salaried employee set-up as per Square: Salaried, non-overtime exempt. Square figured hourly rate based on 40 hour week @ x rate. Upon reviewing payroll preview, looks like Square has employee scheduled for hourly pay. We have employee set-up to clock in each shift because we need to track overtime, if any. Should we not have employee clock-in? If so, how to keep track of OT?

Great question @AnneGVG!
The annual salary you enter for an employee is automatically translated into an hourly rate based off of the total amount of hours worked in a given week. Your employee can still clock in and out if you need to track time and OT. If you have any questions about this specific employee please give us a call and ask to speak to a Payroll specialist.
Generally, with Payroll, full-time biweekly salaried employees are generally paid 80 hours each payday, while semimonthly employees receive 86.67 hours. Specifically, full-time salaried employees are compensated for 2,080 work hours yearly. As an employer, to arrive at the hours for a biweekly employee, divide 2,080 by 26 pay periods. To calculate the hours for a semi-monthly employee, divide 2,080 by 24 pay periods.

Thank you for your detailed response. I understand the math. My employee is scheduled to be paid for the hourly rate, despite my setting him up as per Square's instructions as a salaried employee.

Thank you, @Helen. I contacted Square payroll directly(via email) after previewing this cycle's payroll and have not heard back.

Sorry to hear that! I just checked and the Payroll team just sent you an email. If you have time to check your inbox and reply to them that would be great.
