Receipt printing item twice

I use WooCommerce with my Square for my pizza takeaway and each receipt I print itemises the product twice but with only one price.

This is for online orders and in person

I have searched everywhere to rectify this and I have turned off "Show item description" in Square.

Any ideas?

Hi @PIZZABARACCA, thank you for reaching out! As @Sam_400ยบ said, it does sound like the ticket is being printed out with the name of the item + the variation name.

You can check your variation name on the Square Dashboard. To do so:

1. Go to to your Items > Item Library

2. Select your item

3. Scroll down to Variations > Edit variation details

Edit item name 1.png

4. Change the variation name

Edit item name 2.png

5. Click Done > Save

I hope this will help!

Can you upload a photo?

It sounds like it's printing the version alongside the item, so normally this would be "Burger; Regular" but can end up being the same depending on how you do it all.

I'd have to check how you configure it (while secretly hoping someone comes along that already knows the answer before I find out tomorrow...)

Thank you - I'm going through and removing the variation name (can it be blank?). Then I'll test printing out receipt.

You can leave the variation name field blank @PIZZABARACCA! Let me know if changing the variation helps with the issue at all.

I've been trying to figure this out for a couple of months. Should have come here earlier!!

The problem has been solved and, unless syncing with WooCommerce changes anything, all is great.

Thank you so much.

Hi,

It seems the variation comes back on its own! I've attached two screenshots - first after I removed the variation and then showing the variation coming back to some but not all my pizzas.

Hmm, I haven't seen something like this before, so I'll need to check in with our team @PIZZABARACCA.

To help us look into this, would you mind letting me know:

  • Are there variation/name also setup on WooCommerce?
  • Your system of record (WooCommerce or Square?)

Hi

  • Are there variation/name also setup on WooCommerce? No
  • Your system of record (WooCommerce or Square?) WooCommerce

Weirdly the variation didn't come back on all items! I just kept deleting the variation when it kept re-appeared on some of the pizzas.

Thanks

Sarah

Thanks for clarifying, Sarah! Let me check in with our team here and see if they have seen this with WooCommerce before. Once I have more information, I'll be sure to reach back out and let you know.
