Printing Barcode Labels

Printing labels by Category, Purchase Order or Item is very limiting.

Is there any other workaround to be able to print labels for items as you add them individually?

Coming from another POS system, I was able to print labels directly from the Item Library and from the Item Description page. I could also see all the new items entered into inventory from a received order and print directly from that screen.

Unfortunately, it’s a painstaking process printing barcodes through Square. I would love to see the print barcode show up in the categories page at each item.

Depending how you have your Barcode Printer setup and the manufacturer of the Printer, you may just want to use their software to print your Labels.   I have a specific computer setup for printing Labels to 5 different printers from 1 manufacturer and use their software to print my Barcode labels.

Benefits of Doing this:

  1.  Change the design of labels to fit your needs, add On Sale or Reduced Price for Example.
  2. You can easily print different types of Barcodes 1D or 2D barcodes for example.
    1. I use different 2D barcodes for Shelf Tags
    2. I also have 2D Barcodes for my items so my barcodes are all roughly the same size Square
    3. Just choose a different "Font" for the Barcode and their software creates it easily.
    4. Just make sure your Scanner can translate the Barcode before mass printing it.
  3. And More or Less information.... Company Name or Phone Number etc
  4. More Label Sizes and Choices to use, or even custom labels from a local printer.
  5. Depending on the Label Printer your using you can actually use a CSV file to pull the data to print from.
    1. SquareCatalog.csv
    2. SquarePurchaseOrder.CSV

Problems with doing this:

  1. Not supported by Square.
  2. Does not print right from Square Dashboard or Devices.
  3. Need another Computer possibly
  4. Label Printer you already have may not have Software to import CSV files
    1. Dymo does have a way free
    2. Zebra has a $300 upgrade to their free software to import CSV files
