Is there a location in square to review declined payments?

Had a customer try to use their credit card today. It was declined and the message told the customer to use a different type of payment. We attempted to process the card 3 times, each time with the same message appearing. After the customer paid cash. With in the hour the customer called to question us about the transaction going through. Our system doesn’t show that transaction going through. Is there a location we as a business can review declined payments?

I do not know of a way to see declined payments, but I have had similar incidents happen at my store.  We run our store at a vacation area, so when people travel their cards get declined because they did not inform the bank they were traveling.  The other reason could be that now people can go online and turn off a card, some people for get to turn these cards on.  Another thing that has happened to us is with a gift card type Visa/MC etc, people want to use the remaining balance and then use the rest in cash or another CC.  Again all we see as store owners is the declined message, please try another form of payment.  These are just tips to ask your customer if you sell in a vacation area if a CC is declined and they swear up and down there is enough on the card.

 

I do wish there was a way to see the declined CC with the last 4 numbers to show customers it was declined and never charged.
