How to turn tracking off using bulk export method?

We have 3 stores that all use square and we use a 3rd party application to track our inventory.  Using the CSV export feature, how does one go about turning tracking OFF for all locations?

Hi dubcvapor,

You can't turn it off from the CSV but you can change all your inventory counts to zero.  You can disable Stock Alerts with the CSV.  Just find the columns labeled Stock Alert Enabled "Location" and enter an "N". (note there will be a column for each location) Upload your CSV file and update your inventory.

This doesn't seem to be working at all anymore. I tried this method- going as far as overwriting the whole library and the stock tracking numbers are still showing up. There was an update at some point this summer that made all of the items look really bad on our point of sales iPad. Everything is crossed off that doesn't have inventory numbers. It is really messy and confusing for anyone that is trying to use the software. We do our inventory tracking through a separate system as well and this just looks really bad. How do we disable the feature that is crossing off all of our items? Using the CSV with 0 in all the of the inventory counts and N on inventory tracking just did nothing to help at all...

This worked for me.

Disable Inventory Tracking

  1. Go to Items > Settings > Inventory from your online Square Dashboard.

  2. Click the Enable inventory tracking for new items toggle to disable inventory tracking.

Note: The toggle must be to the left and greyed out to disable inventory tracking.

To disable inventory tracking in bulk, you must export and reimport your item library. To do so:

  1. Export your item library.

  2. Paste "N" in the New Quantity [Your Location Name] column for all variations.

  3. Import the newly altered file back into Square.
