How to Bypass Receipt Screen on Terminal?
Hi,
We recently received our new Terminal and updated the software on 26th March 2022 to the newer version with a favourites tab (essential for us).
Although the Terminal has been set to bypass the receipt screen, it only does this for cash payments - when card payments are made we have to press a print receipt button on three subsequent pages before a receipt/order ticket is printed. Receipts are set to be automatically printed.
Our Registers are configured in a similar way and automatically print out receipts/order tickets immediately after a card or cash payment is made.
Is there some way to bypass the rather involved need on the Terminal to press a print button three times, instead having receipts/order tickets print automatically when a card payment is made? Or is our config incorrect? Thanks.
Skip Review Sale is OFF
Skip Payment Type Selection is OFF
Skip Itemised Basket is ON
Print receipts is Automatically

If it’s automatically set to print the receipts you want, then in the top left there is the option for “New Sale” & this will bypass any screens left with clicks in them.

Thanks for the suggestion of using the 'New sale' button - unfortunately this only prints the Order Ticket (we need both an Order Ticket and Receipt) but doesn't print a Receipt. It looks as though the 'Skip receipt screen' option doesn't actually skip the receipt screen for card payments, irrespective of whether the option is enabled or disabled.
The Terminal was updated this morning to Version 5.13.0063, Firmware Version 3.36.124 with no change in the Receipt behaviour.
Still hoping for a solution. 🙂

If you want a receipt for every sale then enable that option under 'hardware; printer' & you'll get one for every sale, even when using the 'New Sale' option.

The printer is set to 'Use this printer for receipts' enabled and 'Print receipts' is set to Automatically.
A Receipt is not printed for a card payment when 'New Sale' is used - only an Order Ticket is printed.
Printing works fine for cash payments - a Receipt and Order Ticket are automatically printed when payment is made. In order to have a Receipt for a card payment we have to press a print button on 3 screens, starting with the Receipt screen, although 'Skip receipt screen' is enabled and presumably should not be displayed.
Have you tried this setup on a Terminal? If so, could you let me know what software is installed and if your Terminal configuration is different from ours.
Many thanks for your help.

Hi @EPOSsupport, sorry you're running into this. The information on how to enable Skip the Receipt Screen is available in our Support Center here. I understand that this option is turned on but you continue seeing Receipt Screen, is that right?. I will talk to @Alegra and my team for more information and will get back to you as soon as I have more information.

Hi @Emma_ thanks for this. Yes, the Receipt Screen is displayed, even with the option disabled. I would upload images, but this site doesn't seem to allow this.
As background, our Registers are also set with the Receipt Screen turned off, but with the automatic print receipt also turned off. With Registers we are able to define the same printer twice, which allows the same printer to print two copies of an Order Ticket - one for the customer and one for us. This isn't possible with the Terminal, hence our need to print an Order Ticket for us and a Receipt with details for the customer. With hindsight, if the Terminal printer had been implemented in the application in the same way as external printers this would not be an issue.

Just a small update @EPOSsupport, our engineers are aware that the skip receipt screen is not functioning as intended for some Square Terminals. They are working on a resolution so once I have an update I will let you know, thanks for your understanding.

Hi everyone, thanks for this.
Sorry for the inconvenience here and thank you for all the details. I've been testing this out with my Terminal and it looks like I'm going to need to ask our engineers to take a look at this.
@EPOSsupport., can you please send me the serial number of your Terminal located on the back of it via DM?
And I'd need you to upload the diagnostic report also, From the navigation bar, tap More > Support
Under Troubleshooting, tap Send Diagnostic Report.
From there I should have enough information from this this thread but if anything else comes up I'll check back in with you here.
