Haven't used the reader in awhile... can't get past signing in spinning

I tried logging in to Square on my iPhone 6+ after not having used it for a couple years. I just get the 'signing in' spinning around and around. 

Is the reader still okay to use? Why can't I get in?

HI, have you tried to update to the latest iOS?  The last update did change a lot of different things. 

BUT, I do know that the 6 versions are not being supported anymore so that might be the problem too.

Actually the device I have IS compatible with my iPhone. I just looked it up on here.

HI, yes, I understand the iPhone is compatible.  You stated you were not able to login.  The latest update on iPhone changed a lot of settings.  Your iPhone being a 6 version could need a current version of iOS to perform correctly.  FYI.  The iPhone 6 versions are no longer supported on Apple.  Check Settings, General, Software Update.  If there is one available update it and see if it will connect.

I rebooted my phone and was able to get in. Now just having trouble with the device recognizing the swiped credit card when I try and test it.
