I know, I know, I know. The dreaded discounts problem.
I set up a minimum spend amount discount and selected a category to apply the discount. Problem: the discount should apply ONLY WHEN THE MINIMUM SPEND AMOUNT IS REACHED FOR THAT CATEGORY ONLY., not when a customer spends that amount pre-tax.
Specifically, I set up a percentage discount to apply to Block Widgets when a customer makes. a minimum purchase of $100. To my surprise, the discount applies to Block Widgets when the customer's purchase reaches that $100 minimum of any and all items. I want it to apply when the customer purchases $100 of Block Widgets and only to the Block Widgets.

try under dashboard , items, discounts
https://squareup.com/dashboard/items/discounts
create a discount name , Automatic discount then set the rules for it
it has a box that says Apply this discount automatically to specific times, quantities, items, or categories.
Automatic discount
Discount rules
Apply this discount automatically to specific times, quantities, items, or categories.Hey there @mythcrunning
Please let me know if the suggestion from @ninja502 helps. The reason your discount currently applies to everything is that Discounts can be enforced on items on Square Point of Sale. The method mentioned above would allow you to automatically apply these discounts to reduce human error when applying discounts manually to items they do not apply to.
I hope this information is helpful!
