Can I use an old swiper from a past, closed business for a new business with a new account?

I have a swiper (not a reader) from a business I closed in 2014. I'm opening a new business within days. I have opened a new account. I would like to know if the old swiper can be used or do I need to order a new one? Thanks.

Yes, you can use an old swiper as they are not tied to an account.

But, I would recommend getting the contactless/chip reader for security reasons due to the liability shift.  Read about that here.  https://squareup.com/emv-liability-shift
