Business Scam Warning....

This is for everyone.  SCAM!!!!!!

I just received a Letter saying under Pa Codes of Labor I need a poster of Minimum Wage.......

Yes I know this but payment is to be mailed to:

Pa Labor Law Poster Service

6059 Allentown Blvd #904

Harrisburg PA 17112-2672

So before reading anymore or looking into what I need to do, I google above address.  Comes back to a UPS Store..... ie #904 is like a PO box at the UPS Store.  The other red flag was the Zip Code is not for Harrisburg Pa but for Paxtonia PA.

My warning is when you get a Notice check where you need to send payments to and Google the address before getting Scammed out of your $$.  Some businesses may get a letter like this and just mail in the $90 fee they are asking for.

Be Careful!!!!

Thanks for the heads-up @Candlestore . Another one to watch out for is ...actually I just thought of SEVERAL, LOL. Sad there are so many scams to be aware of that especially target small business.

  • If you file a trademark or copyright, be aware that your info is public record and you will receive scam letters of "business directories" that look official and will claim to add your copyright registration to a database/catalog. This costs several thousand dollars and has NOTHING TO DO WITH the official government agencies you pay for fee to when these are originally filed.
  • ERC (Employee Retention Credit) scams. Some may be legit, but most are not. Companies are capitalizing on covid-era tax credits for business who had employees and kept them on the payroll during covid. These scam companies will say you are entitled to a government tax credit, will take your money to file the paperwork. But they disappear before the govt. tells you "hey, you're not really qualified to receive this credit, and you have to pay it back now."
  • Google Business Listings. I hate this one!!!! I get calls just about every day, from scammers who troll Google pages for your business phone number. They will say that your Google Biz Listing is NOT verified, and then will attempt to have you pay them for registering your biz on Google. They are NOT official Google, they are a 3rd party scam, and most likely if you already put your own biz on Google, it's already verified. You can check with Google directly, and if you tell the scammers "you're already verified" they will make some story up about how that isn't the same. blah blah blah. Be careful.

This are the main ones that come to mind and haunt me just about every week. Be careful out there everyone.

Interesting. You might want to look into a service like Ooma (this is what I use) for your phone lines. It lets us set automated greeters that the scammers have a hard time bypassing (they usually use automated call software that will hang up when it hits an automated greeting) and that lets us block #'s super easily.

Even yelp has only called us once this year when they used to be relentlessly aggressive trying to get us to advertise.  The worst thing I'm dealing with on a regular basis are loan companies reaching out to my cell because I took out a loan a while ago and they share the info and sell it so now every shady loan company constantly calls.
