We do not use inventory tracking. Square adds it to returned items, creating sales errors.

We do not use inventory tracking. For art cards and prints, we can sometimes fabricate additional copies of ones that sell well. Our artists do use bar codes so we know what sold.

If an item is purchased and is then returned, an inventory count of 1 is turned on for the item. After that item is sold, future attempts to sell the item generate "sold out" errors because the inventory is zero. This is a bug -- Square should NOT turn on item tracking when we do not want to use it. I have also seen an "unrecognized bar code" error when using the barcode reader, but I have not tied down the precise condition that causes this yet. However, it was related to trying to clean up and resell the same item that caused the previously described error.
