Split transactions returns to a gift card -PLEASE HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM!!!!!!

SPLT TRANSACTION EXCHANGES ARE SOOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!!

When is square going to open the option to do a return to a NEW gift card when there has been a split transaction between a gift card and credit card?  Doing an exchange this way is SOOOOOO confusing for my staff.

I have customers that come in and purchase items by split transaction.  They pay half with their visa and the other half with a square gift card.  A lot of times these customers come back in to exchange items for various reasons (we only do store credit).  When we start the process to exchange it does not allow us to  return the credit to a NEW gift card.  It always goes back to the original gift card that has most likely been thrown out.  It is always a scene at check out when this happens.  My employees are frustrated and the customers are FRUSTRATED.  How can this be fixed?  There has to be a simplier way to credit back to a NEW gift card!  The way you have told us to handle this in the past is not simple for my staff to remember, plus it drives my bookkeeper crazy when I run a new gift card for the amount and give it a 100% discount.  I know shopify has a way for this issue... square has to figure something out!   You should hire someone from shopify to come over an help with this issue.  We are a retail business and people do exchanges and returns ALL THE TIME!  THIS OPTION HAS TO BE ADDED!  I have been contacting you all on this for over 5 years now and nothing has been done!  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM!

I would also like to see this as an option in the functionality.

It is so difficult to do this and we always need to bring me in to try to figure out the best way to work around it. But I'm not always there at the shop (we have multiple locations) and it is very difficult to do a workaround that results in items going back to stock properly and getting them credit for any remaining amount. I usually have to just do a gift card credit on a new card in a new transaction, and leave the original transaction alone and then go into the items in the dashboard and pull out or add to stock in the items that are being returned versus the items that they are getting in exchange.

It's very cumbersome.
