Shopping Cart Page

I hope this is in the correct section. My suggestion for Square online is for the cart page.

 

Obviously right now if a customer adds an item to your cart it shows up on the cart page, but what if the customer has no items in the cart? It's just an empty page. My idea is to have a section with items from the store, or at the very least a button that takes you to the shop so that the customer is engaging with product. I feel like this philosophy for an online retail store to have as many of their pages link back to a certain product or to your general shop page is the way to go. Six of the top ten retail companies (https://brandirectory.com/rankings/apparel/table) have either a "You may like" or "Popular Products" section or at the very least a "Continue Shopping" or "Get Started" button when the cart is empty. I'm assuming adding either of the two would be something simple that would be super beneficial to online businesses.

It's definitely part of my software wishlist. They recently had a hardware feedback session and took a lot of great ideas back to the Square Team. Hopefully this can be brought up if they hold a software feedback session as stuff like popular products and also a more robust filter creation could really elevate most websites.
