Inventory Transfers

I used to be able to transfer inventory from one location to another using a barcode scanner. I would scan each item individually then scan the last item twice. It wasn't perfect but it worked. Now when I go to transfer inventory I get prompted to build a transfer order that won't allow me to scan the items individually. I have to scan the items, add them to the order, then add the quantity to each line item. Is there any way to revert back to the old system?
