I have to admit that I've been confused about this from the start. I have a retail area of my ice cream store and I've never been able to figure out how to list the items in square. For instance, I have several funny candles so I added the sayings as options. If I don't do it this way the items do not show up online as individual candle sayings and the inventory isn't updated correctly. Am I doing this right? I have always felt that I am not using the retail system correctly. Thank you for your help.

Welcome back to the Community and thank you for your post.
I wanted to ask a couple of questions to make sure I understand what you're looking for.
Do you want these candles as a variation or their own separate items? Whenever you make changes to your items, are you making those in your Dashboard or in the Online Store?

Hi Kassi and thank you for responding! I think that is why I'm a little confused. If I set them up as variations, which the list would be long since I have 20 or so candles, would I be able to delete that variation if I chose not to carry the candle "saying" any more. Which does happen often. And if I delete it would I still have the reporting on the deleted candles. This does apply to many other items I carry like kids goggles that have different styles.
In this case having so many candles would you suggest I set them up separately or use the variation/option set? Right now I'm trying to clean up what I did when I first started adding my retail items. I guess I never thought that adding as an option/variation was correct but adding each one separately seemed time consuming. Also on the online store would it look better if I enter each individual item separately?
I typically will add all my items from my dashboard. I do make changes in my online store but from what I understood either way the changes are made across the board.
Any help you can give to clarify any of this would be so appreciated.

Honestly, I would recommend creating them as items. It would be easier to manage because you can set them as hidden in your Online Store. In your Dashboard - you could create a Candle Category too. This would help with the organization.
If you add them as variations, they would have to be deleted under the item.
