Does anyone know how to or if it's even possible to do a Gift Card promo of
Buy gift card for $50 and get an additional $10 gift card FREE or something
like that?
We used to be able to do it on Quickbooks POS and "charge the Free card
to an account (like a marketing account or whatever)
It is not on ECommerce as we don't offer that.
Thoughts? Need help ASAP

Hi @kelly67
You can do it in Square dashboard under Gift Cards and then e-gift card promotions with an electronic gift card using the promotions section for e-gift cards. It doesn't quite do exactly what you're trying to do as you have to give a certain discount for a certain amount.
For instance you could do a $10 discount on a $60 e-gift card. That would basically say that they get a $50 gift card and a $10 bonus for the price of $50.
I don't think there's a way to easily make two separate gift cards, but some things that we've done in the past is basically give them their $10 discount on a $60 gift card and then use that gift card to pay for a separate $10 gift card.
Then you have two gift cards and one of them is a $50 and one of them is a $10 and the customer only spent $50.
I haven't really seen another way to do it but I would love if other square staff or sellers would chime in with any ideas that they have found to work.
Another thing that we do is we have gift cards that we sell on our website and we use a WordPress website but I think this could work in pretty much whatever platform you're in for your website.
We created a product called plastic gift card and then we set our promotions using discount rules in our website under our shop functionality.
Then when somebody adds that plastic gift card to their cart we have rules in place that automatically grant them a bonus gift card.
Also I saw that you posted this to the square for retail forum.
You can sell egiftcards right on your register or POS and potentially utilize the e-gift card promotion that you set up.
You can also sell plastic gift cards and instruct your team to add a $10 gift card for every $50 gift card being purchased and then apply the $10 discount to the entire cart.
I checked to see if you could create automatic discount rules under items and discounts, which work very well for items but apparently gift cards are not available to be selected for the automatic discount rules in the POS. Not sure why that is.
Let me know if any of that helps you.
Happy selling!
