How do you actually get Square to fix problems?

Hey Square, I'm really frustrated. I've posted several threads about issues I've had with my Square POS, in ALL instances, Square doesn't have an actual fix for the issues. And in ALL instances, I find multiple other threads from other users complaining about the same issues going back years. Several issues I have complained about multiple times:

-No cash resister count out function. This is a basic feature of electronic cash registers and is included on every other competing POS systems I've researched. A system as modern and massive as Square should have basic functionality.

-Allow making returns without a receipt or transaction record. There are numerous threads highlighting why retailers need to pay out a refund without having a receipt or transaction record, but they all boil down to a huge customer service issue. This is a basic function of any commerce transaction. Square should not be the ones making the decision for its clients on weather or not we can make a return. Again, this is a basic POS function that all competing systems accommodate.

-Transaction searching is abyssmally deficient. I should be able to search for transactions by date, product, transaction ID, etc. Right now, I can only really search by scrolling through transactions. I have seen multiple threads complaining about how long it takes to find older transactions in the list, even when you know exactly what day and time the transaction happened. This is usually related to needing to find a transaction to facilitate a return as above. But manually scrolling through several months of transactions is really inefficient and again leads to bad customer experiences.

-Cash drawers closing or ending without prompting. There are multiple threads of people calling this out for years. In all the instances, Square seems to suggest it's a problem with their individual system, suggesting users "reset" their system. But if the problem happens periodically, without known reason, resetting doesn't actually fix the problem. If there are this many users complaining of the same issue, it's clearly a bug, but Square has yet to address it in any meaningful way: Provide communication to users about why it's happening, offer real fixes or solutions to prevent it, or fixing the system to eliminate the issue.

These are just the issues that I've personally experienced and been asking for work on. IN all these threads, I have yet to see Square offer any real solutions to anyone, or actually provide any updates that fix actual problems users complain about. So my final answer is: How do you get Square to actually take user issues seriously? I've filled out the forms requesting solutions, and I've joined the Beta team (although, I've never had a test feature that pertained to me). SO what's the deal Square? When are you going to fix very basic issues?

@MagicToybox  I'm really sorry to hear of all the issues you've had with your systems! I know that a few of these have been cleared up over the years as far as I know.

I can't speak to all of your concerns because I don't use some of what you do, but let me address what I can...

-The count out function is definitely lacking. Since you're already on the beta track, I recommend checking out the new Cash Management Beta. @Barbara_B is one of the leads. I think that this function is still not currently planned, but the more people leaning on Square (even for just a calculator popup!) the better of a chance of it happening.

-On my standard Point of Sale I can search for transactions via card number, item, and name at least. From the dashbaord I have full control of search parameters. Is it a little sluggish, especially from the POS? Sure. It's a lot of data to look at. Are you using POS or Retail?

-In 13 years of using Square I have never had a cash drawer randomly close on me. Is this something that you can replicate? Are there employees involved? What types of systems and apps? iOS, Android, Register; POS, Retail, Appointments, Restaurants?

I have learned that with Square, as like pretty much every software company out there, the more detail you can give support about what/where/why/how/who that leads you to your issues the easier it is for the dev team to figure out what's going on. Videos of the issues are especially vital.

I am using Square POS- On the square POS, I can search only by scanning a receipt, or scrolling. I usually use my computer to search item history, to find the transaction and then need to go back to the register to scroll to the correct transaction to find the purchase. This work around is still time consuming, and completely unnecessary. I should be able to scan the item in the POS to search purchase history, and I should definitely be able to process a return transaction without finding the transaction.

There are multiple other threads listing incidents of cash drawers suddenly closing going back at least to 2018. I have had it happen 2-3 times. I do not know how to duplicate it as the register was literally idle, not being used at the time. I was notified by receiving a text alert for end of day cash drawer summary, and considering I was the only one in the store standing a few feet from the register, I know it was nothing on my end.

So these are things that Square should be addressing. Two of the these complaints simply providing basic features that add basic functionality. I shouldn't have to do work arounds to process a return, or be doing math on post it notes to process the cash in my modern POS system. It's like a new Mercedes having manual window cranks.

@MagicToybox  Whenever I search in the transaction field I get the following screen:

IMG_4551.jpeg

And this is consistently working for me on multiple iOS devices with various searches. I’ve searched by customer name, the four digit receipt code, item, everything. I’m very surprised that your software doesn’t have this.

I’ve also found various threads in the community that talk about the drawer randomly closing, and the latest I’ve found was from last October saying that this issue was resolved.

What version of the square app are you running? If it is the latest, I’d recommend a delete and reinstall of the app from your device: it’s a possibility that something didn’t upgrade correctly causing you the issues you’re still seeing.

As for the cash count issue, this is why I recommended joining the Cash Management Beta. It is something that needs to be addressed; I’ve found that being in the betas help move things forward.

I have that same search bar, and it does not seem to work. I've searched by Receipt code, date, item name, item SKU, and I do not get any search results.

Even so,

I still don't see a response from anyone actually answering my question: How do you get real attention from Square? They seem to be silent on actually addressing issues for the clients.
