Dollar Amount Taxes
Hey there. Here in Washington State we have two taxes we have to apply to spirit sales. One is percentage based (which works great with Square) and the other is a fixed dollar amount based on bottle size (which is not supported by Square). Currently the work-around is having the taxes as "items" but we have to make sure they aren't counted as revenue at the end of the month and don't have blanket discounts applied.
Hoping there's something in the pipeline where a sales tax can be selected as a percentage OR a dollar amount, and added at the end of the transaction.
Thanks.

@GlassDistillery I think this should go over to being a feature request as that is an interesting use case with a fixed dollar amount. There is one way I can imagine to work around for this, but it would be a little tedious. Let's say you have a 1 litre bottle that gets a 1$ tax. If the bottle is 30$ you could set up a tax for the price point on that bottle and apply that tax to the specific item to charge that tax. So in this scenario Sales Tax (1 litre jose cuervo WA State) 3.33% applied to specific item. This would give you the 1$ needed as a tax on the bottom line of the receipt. Once you have the taxes set up, it is easy to track then.
The problem here is with price changes will require you to update the tax %. Your work around is easier, but you do have to deduct the total of those "tax items" from gross sales to get a net sales number, but that is completely doable at the end of the year for tax purposes by your accountant or self as you have paper trail proof of where these funds go for the state and fed.
