Dispute response products or services -how about Both?

Having trouble finding the "Dispute" category. Seems this should be right at top. lol

This is a 2-part question

A customer filed a dispute for $1200 with me. The customer purchased $1200 worth of goods and services from me (PC repair and an expensive component). I was trying to refund the price difference of approximately $250. I was unable to contact to negotiate with him when suddenly he filed the dispute for the entire amount. He has already taken the PC with the new component and all the work has already been done. This is partially my fault for taking so long to refund it but he wouldn't return my calls.

As I began responding to the dispute, the first question was whether I want to challenge a purchase for "Goods" or "Services"... when it's actually both (since he filed the dispute for the full amount which includes labor and parts. It should be for only "goods" since that's what I owe the refund for)

#1-*What should I select? "Goods" or "Services"?

Also, I'd like to go to his invoice and just issue a refund for the $250. However, Square has already taken the $1200 from my account.

#2-*Should I give him this refund? Or let the dispute play out? Because then there will be even more money pulled from my account.

you know, I'm sure there are others who have been involved with disputes and the best way I found to avoid fraudulent chargebacks is to be soo nice to every customer so they wouldn't want to do it. This has other advantages. Those of you who are also in customer relations/sales know how tough a job this can be. Not for the faint of heart lol. I"m learning as I go....4yrs now and I'm getting pretty good at this.

I am not sure what to say about #1, but I would agree with you that it would be for 'Goods'.

As for #2, in my opinion I would let it play out since the Issuing Credit Card company will make the decision.  So if you refund the customer $250 and the credit card issuing bank favors your customer you could be out the $1200 plus the $250.

That is how I feel see what others say    Good luck at keep us updated.
