Departments or Sub-Categories

Could Square please create departments or sub-categories? We have a market and restaurant, so we track sales across different "departments," e.g., Prepared Food, Draft Beer, Bar Wine, Retail Food, Retail Beer, Retail Wine, Non-Food Retail, Non-Prescription Drugs, etc. This is for our knowledge as well as for tax reasons, since we use three different tax rates, depending on the department. We previously used ShopKeep, which allowed us to have categories within those departments. This was especially helpful for the Retail department so that we could pull sales for the "chips" category and "beverages" category, for example, to see what our top sellers were and which items we should discontinue -- without having to go through and select all of the chips or all of the beverages individually. We came up with a workaround when we transitioned to Square, but it required creating a number of different categories (e.g., Retail Food - Chips, Retail Food -Beverages, Beer - Singles, Beer - Large Format, etc.) and makes sales reporting really cumbersome. Ideally, for daily reporting, we'd just want to pull sales for all Retail Food, all Beer, etc., but have the ability to drill down further when needed. It's a feature that we took for granted with ShopKeep and has made the transition to Square much more difficult for us. I'm sure a number of businesses would benefit by adding this feature!
