The transaction can still happen even if the physical cash drawer is open (not in a closed position). It would be better if no transaction could happen when the cash drawer is not in the closed position.
I’ll add that it should be a setting for each seller to decide for themselves. In my case (a fast moving ice cream shop) I don’t care. But I see the submitter’s point here. Some sellers need this control. Give us the option!

I did edit the title of the request a little to be a little more specific, that way if other merchants come across this request they can add their input as well.
