Can you use square retail without doing anything with a website?
Can you just use square retail without using the website side of things? I make custom items and i do not get any foot traffic on my website and ill just really be doing invoicing and vendor events for sells.

Hi SimplyAdaline,
You don't need a website - basically all you need is a Square Account connected to your bank account and the free POS app for your smart device. Note, if doing events (selling in person), I would suggest investing in Square's Reader for contactless and chip cards. As for invoices, you can send them from your Square Account Dashboard.

I used Square POS for a few months when I first started, then moved up to the Square for Retail (Free version) and now have the paid version. I have used all 3 without a Square Website. I would recommend the Square for Retail Free version to be able to generate a SKU for your items and then print small barcodes. The Ipads seem to be able to work the best with Bluetooth scanners and Square.

I use my own printers software for making mine. After the SKU is generated by Square you can export your Square catalog to a CSV file. Then with a label printer and its software make your own labels. I have done this then Save the labels in an organized folder system on a computer for printing out labels. You can not do this with the free or POS systems through Square, only Square for Retail Paid lets you print them with limits on the font and what appears and the size of the labels. I found using the Label printers software more flexible. Depending on your label printers software you can read right from the CSV file to do the Barcodes.
Think of the SKU as text and the Barcode as a FONT. As long as the Barcode Reader / Scanner can read the Font it will read the Barcode created by your label maker as long as the Barcode is formatted correctly. Usually this is the Size of the barcode. Too small and my scanner does not read the barcode or Too Large. I tried making QR codes under 3/8 inch square and these did not read, and I also made QR codes at 4" by 4" square for my shelf tags and these did not read. Not sure if the limit was the ability of the Scanner / Size of the QR etc But at about 1/2 inch to 2" inches in size I have had no issues.
Do you have a Label Printer?

Yes I do! But when I’ve printed barcodes before I had to manually enter every single item on the individual tags. I need an easier way.

Which Label Printer do you have?
Dymo Label Printers software you can extract data from their software, and if it is a Zebra Label printer you need to buy their Professional Software 1 time for about $300 to pull data from a csv file. Both work as a type of mail merge program where you set the basic design and fixed text then you can insert tags that pull the Item name, SKU, Price etc from the csv file.

So it can be done but all I did was copy paste my SKU or create the label than scan the barcode to create my item in square. After I create a Barcode and Label I save them in an organized file. Some are by what we make, and some are for our suppliers that have no Barcodes. But now when I need a barcode I just open the folder, find the file and open it then say print X number of labels. Sometimes I print 1, to check alignment if I changed a roll of labels, before I print all of them and they are not eye pleasing.
