Best bar code reader

Hi folks.

Just to add to our cup of happiness this week we are now allowed to have people back into our shop and both our chip reader and our bar code scanner have stopped working.  I've done all the normal checks and testing procedures but still not good so I'm going to have to replace. So my question is...

What are your recommendations for the best bar scanner for square retail? I see the two offered by square and like the look and practicality of the bluetooth S700 but don't know if I can justify the spend under the circumstances right now.  I see lots on Amazon that are way cheaper and say they are compatible but wonder if any one has any experience they would like to share please.
