Refunds With Permisison to View All Completed Sales Disabled

We’ve recently encountered an issue with our employees calculating the day's transactions to figure out how much money we made that day, then sharing this information with other employees — we don’t think this is information they need to know.

So naturally, we adjusted the team’s permissions and restricted their access to view all completed sales transactions for all team members except their own which works great in theory, but when testing it out and creating a scenario to refund a sale that they didn’t process, that’s where we come across with some issues.

When a customer presents their receipt and the employee can scan it, the process is smooth! Unfortunately, it never works out that way and we often find ourselves typing in the receipt number due to scanner issues or searching for the transaction using the customer’s card neither method retrieves the receipt with this restriction on, which makes sense but puts us at a crossroads on what to do.

Is there an alternative solution to this problem? Or is scanning the receipt the only way for an employee to process a refund for a sale they didn’t complete?

I hope we can find a solution or consider adding this feature in a future update.

Unfortunately the employee would need the permission to be able to look up the transactions from other employees in order to process the refund so they would need to be able to see all staff transactions.

You should be able to allow them to see all transactions and issue refunds but remove their access to sales reports and keep that only for management. So in theory they could add up all the transactions one by one to get the total sales for the day but if they have that kinda time and are actually doing it you need to rethink your staffing.
