Unwieldy Weebly

We are trying to be patient...really. We hesitated to move over to our "new" online store hosted on Weebly because we suspected the integration wouldn't be seamless.

But seriously, we don't have time for this.

Because of COVID, our business is even more fluid that usual -- and we have to communicate each of those changes via the website.

But the website is often 'experiencing issues' -- today's issue is that we can't edit items.

We are a small business that features specials which change daily. We can't spend an hour every day on website management, digging through support threads to sort out why my crabcake sandwich image isn't loading.

This will drive us to explore other services if things don't improve. Soon.

Hello @oxfordcanteen

We intend to provide you with the best experience possible. What seems to be the exact issue with your site editor. Can I please get your email address? I'd be happy to help as best as I can.

We were unable to edit site items much of yesterday, but that issue appears to have been fixed.

But we still can't make items in the online store available only during business hours, and we continue to get orders that we can't fulfill right away, and we wind up having to refund customers who aren't reading the business hours closely (because they assume the online store wouldn't be open if we aren't there!).

From what I've read on other threads, this is a feature request but there's no indication this is forthcoming...

Your right @oxfordcanteen. This is a feature request. The only workaround we can suggest is to turn off accepting online orders at the end of the workday and turning it back on at the start of the next day.

Can you tell me whether a 'feature request' means that it's actually in the works or not?

Turning it on/off every. single. day. is adding two more things to an already long to-do list.

Thanks.

Hey @oxfordcanteen

I definitely see why you would want to disable your store on your off hours, but I've found having my site available 24/7 has been good for us.

As long as your hours of operation are set for your store in Square, your customers get plenty of warning that your physical store is closed already.

When your customer first hits your webstore, they see "Preorder Available" and the time that your store is first open (at least it does for me because I have pickup and delivery enabled).

When the customer first views the cart, right before they hit checkout, there is a "Pickup - xxx" where xxx is either as soon as possible if you're open, or for the next day you're going to be open. As an example, my store is currently closed for the day, so my checkout page reads "Pickup-Tomorrow after 8:30am" which is our opening time plus the preparation time.

I then continue this thought with certain items that take me longer than a day to make by putting big disclaimers in each item saying that this item is prepared the morning after ordering and is not a same-day pickup item. Yeah, I get a few people here and there that don't read that note and expect their order right away, but as soon as I point that note out they're all ok with coming back for their goodies.

All orders we get on the off hours all print the next morning once we're all set automatically, so I haven't had any major issues at all with off-hour ordering. And it's definitely been a boost to the ol' bottom line in today's environment...

Just my 2¢!

@oxfordcanteen. When it comes to feature requests, this board is visible to our products team. However, I can't confirm if this is currently in the works. If we get any updates on your request we will make sure to let you know by posting it here.

Thank you for your input and suggestions @ryanwanner. Much appreciated!
