Square KDS 6.27 crashing

Hi there,

The Square KDS 6.27 update on iOS released on October 3rd 2023 is causing the Square KDS to crash after login. 

We have a total of 5 KDS iPads in our restaurant and 3 out of 5 auto updated and are now crashing as soon as we open the app. I've tried rebooting the iPads and completely uninstalling the app (and re-logging in with a fresh device code) and as soon as I'm past the login step, the app crashes. Nothing to be done. 

 

The other 2 iPads that did not auto update yet are working perfectly fine. This is an insane lack of quality of control for a majorly important app that powers our and millions of restaurants' day to day operations and I'm shocked to see this fail so badly. 

Please fix asap

@turquoisegoat I have not had any trouble with our kds ipads.  I just verified I have the newest iOS update (17.0.2) and KDS 6.27.

 

I assume you have updated the iOS and did all the normal restart tablets etc.

Thanks for your response Donnie. Yes we are running the latest iOS, and have tried restarting the iPads as well as deleting the app completely and re-installing it.

 

I've just tried the full reset on one of my iPads again and it's unfortunately doing the same thing. As soon as I get past the device code login and approve the permissions that the app needs, it crashes. Then it crashes as soon as I open it thereafter...

I've spoken to Square support who have confirmed this is a known issue with 6.27. They are working on an update but it won't be resolved by our big evening rush tonight. So we are using pen and paper like in the dark ages! 😞

@turquoisegoat I saw an iOS update and square KDS update this morning.  Bugs like that are very frustrating and I hate when it isn't consistent across the board.  I appreciate you posting that always helps the engineers to see those too.  Do you use any printers?
