Notify customers when their order is ready for in-house orders

Can you please add a feature to notify/text customers when their order is ready for in-house orders? Same as the feature you have for online orders?

 

You already have text messaging for online orders so I'd assume it's the same consent process for in person orders no? 

 

By having this feature, we're able to fulfill more orders by: spending less time chasing down customers who ordered, reheating customer orders who didn't pick up their orders on time because they didn't know their order was ready, and this will drive more traffic because of more satisfied customers. 

 

The way we expect to use it is: we would take the customers cell phone number when taking their order, get their consent to send them a text message when order is ready, and once order is ready to be picked up, we'd mark that on their order (similar to online orders) and a text message would be send telling them their order is ready to be picked up.

@humblewoodfire1 we switched to using self ordering kiosk by kiosk buddy it integrates with square. It has text messaging built in and cashier position isn’t needed anymore unless they’re paying cash. It’s been game changer 

I noticed this feature has been added.

Go to: Device Management > Points of sale > POS devices > Choose device > Scroll down until you see 'Order-ready texts'

@RoniM The screenshot you shared isn't viewable.  Where are you going to change these settings?  I don't see "device management" anywhere.  Are you changing these settings on the dashboard on a computer, on the square register device itself, or what?

Is this only for the Restaurant POS? I'm seeing everything up to the "choose device", then my two devices (ipad and phone) don't show that option. I use square for my food truck.  

@humblebaird go to the Square website on your laptop or phone and log into your Dashboard. From there follow the steps I mentioned before.

 

@macdaddy I only use Square for Restaurants so I'm not sure about the others. 

I have both the Square Register and then the Square Terminal (little hand held device).  how is it that the Terminal has the function "Notify when ready" and it can send the text but the Square Register (that costs twice as much) can't have this function.  Will it be ready soon?

@Eastwood77 I may be wrong about the specifics, but check the device settings and you may be able to turn on the “notify when ready” command.

I use Register and we do have that feature for online pickup orders.

For in-person orders, we use a pager to notify when guests can pick up their coffee from the bar.
