I own a coffe house and need to set loyalty points for drinks purchased. Not total spent. Is there a way to set points to be rewarded only on specific menu items? Like:1 punch per drink ordered? I can't used the total spent because we also sell merchandise. I don't want to give rewards for anything but drinks.

While it isn't currently possible to exclude specific items from loyalty redemption per-say, you do have some adjustable settings when editing the Redeeming Rewards portion of your Loyalty program, @kaliann91.
Instead of selecting Discount Entire Sale, you could choose any of the other options as Reward Types to ensure that the items you do not want to be discounted will not be included as a reward. I hope this helps!
Hi y'all!
You can now exclude specific items or categories so that customers are only earning points on the items you select ✨

Hello @ryanwanner @ktuck, Helen here from the Community team, I'm sorry for the late reply.
At this time you're right, you can only set up the rule to earnpoints based on Amount Spent or Any Item in Category.
I certainly appreciate why you'd like to implemet certain restrictions though. If we have any udpates on this we'll let you know here!

Hey @biryani-
Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.
At this time, with Square Loyalty, there isn't a way to exclude items from a spend base program. You would have to change to earn by item or category and assign points value to each item/ category.
If you have any questions about this, please give us a call to speak with a Loyalty, Marketing, and Directory specialist. Thanks again!

We have a clothing line in our low priced food store. The clothing is expensive and we do not want to offer loyalty rewards for clothing purchases. I see that someone raised this issue in 2016. Has it been fixed? Seems like a few lines of code would make it so that we can offer rewards for food purchases but not apparel purchases. Help?

@YourBliss You should be able to add all the categories you want to be eligible from the Loyalty section of your Dashboard - any categories you don't include will not earn points:
- Sign in to your online Dashboard.
- Navigate to the Loyalty section > click Settings.
- Below Earning Points/Stars click Edit.
- From the Earn By dropdown menu select Any item in a category > click Add Category to add your food categories and the Points/Stars earned for an item sold in that category.
- Click Add Category again to add as many food categories as needed > click Continue.
- Click Save to save your changes.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions or if this way of setting up the program isn't working for your business. We'll take another look!

@Helen thank you. Problem is we offer points per dollar spent. Your solution works for those offering points per item purchased. We need to eliminate a category from Loyalty while offering points per dollar spent. Is there a way to do that?
Thanks Much!
Hey @YourBliss! Jumping in for Helen here. At this time we unfortunately don't have a way to limit categories or items from being able to earn points when you have it set up on a dollar earned basis.
I wish I had some sort of workaround to offer you, but honestly there just isn't a great way to accomplish this. 🙁
I'll pass this feedback along to our Loyalty Product Team because I can assure you that you're not the only one looking for this feature!
@nika Thank you for your candid response! My 12 year old Son is coding in 7.5 languages and feels strongly that he could easily make it happen. :
What could possibly be holding Square back on this. I see people asking for it from 2016?

@YourBliss I wish I was as smart when I was 12 as kids are these days! Coding is the future!
There's quite a bit that goes into building and releasing feature requests! That thread walks through the cycle of feature requests at Square. Hopefully it helps!
Has there been any update to this? We also really need to exlcude a catgeory from loyalty. We do not allow customers to get loyalty points for special orders (like team orders - LARGE orders). But our customers are getting them because they have enrolled in loyalty for their other regular purchases and the register automatically adds points for ALL purchases. Please, please, please tell me there is now a way to exclude a catgeory! This problem is costing us A LOT of money. I know a previous system we used (Revel) we were able to edit the actual product so it would not be eligible for loyalty points.
We'd like our customers to spread out their visits and redemptions so they aren't spending all their points at once. Is there any way to set how many loyalty rewards a customer can use in a transaction or a way to turn off the ability for using multiple?

Hi there, @oblivioncomics 👋 Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Seller Community! Happy to hear from you.
Currently, while limitation boundaries exist for specific categories to generate Loyalty points, we do not currently offer a formal method for refraining customers from redeeming multiple rewards at time of purchase. There is somewhat of a workaround here, however. Since redemption of multiple rewards at checkout has to manually be completed by the cashier, you can communicate to the customer that they can only redeem one reward at a time - or whichever frequency you'd prefer.
More on reward redemption and processes here.

I have a rewards program that customers earn 1 point for every dollar they spend. But I want to excluded a category from them to earn points on. How can I exclude the whole category so that won't add to their points.
IE: Customer buys 3 bottles of wine totaling $45 and a pack of cigarettes for $10. The customer should get only 45 points for this purchase.
Thanks!

That does not allot point by dollar. That sets a set number of points per item/category. So a $1 item will get the same amount of points as a $150 item. I have it set up $1 spent gets 1 point.

I've read that customers can redeem multiple rewards in a single purchase but what if I want to limit the rewards?
Rewards for services - If a customer is having a service performed, I don't want them to stack the rewards towards a free service. How can this be limited? Can I exclude or limit a category or item?
Thank you!

Thanks for this question. Stackable rewards is an option now on iOS systems.
We do not have a system in place to allow multiple stacking of rewards, this is something you as the business control on the transactions. If you do not wish to make a reward stackable, you may want to post that as a rule on your services.
Depending on how your program is set up, you can most definitely limit which items your reward points and redemptions are available on. If you'd like more help on setting up your reward redemptions differently, we have a designated support team that can help direct you.

The title of this post has been edited from the original: prevent rewards from being used on specific items
Is there any way to prevent rewards being used on sale items? I want to add my black friday door busters to my website but I want to prevent customers from only purchasing sale items and applying rewards.

When is this feature coming? It should not be so difficult to have a loyalty discount only apply to full priced items! At this point, we have to ring discounted items up in a separate transaction or manually apply the same discount as the loyalty reward would give to the full priced items and then manually adjust their points. And there's no way to stop customers from double-dipping on discounts on our website. This seems like a very basic feature to have in a loyalty program, especially one that we pay to use!
I'd like to exclude certain items from receiving points in the Square Loyalty program... for example, I have a product that is priced much higher and needs to excluded from the program so points are not awarded. How can I do that (other than manually removing the points *after* the transaction). Thanks
