How do you use Gift Cards on the Restaurant POS

We just got gift cards for our POS, but we switched from Square retail to Square POS between when we ordered them and when they arrived, but I don't know how to add a gift card to the restaurant system. I am familiar doing it on the retail system and it worked when I tried it on the IOS app.

Are you using a Square Register? Gift cards can be swiped on the Square Register. To see the gift card option on the register, tap > Checkout > All items and Services. Gift cards should be just below "Redeem Rewards" here. You have to LOAD money on the gift card first. You'd select gift card, type in the amount to add to the plastic gift card, run the card through to "load" it. then the customer who is purchasing the gift card would present their payment and pay for the gift card.

When the gift card get redeemed, you'd swipe it on the register as a form of payment. If there is a balance due beyond the gift card balance, you'll get a notification on the screen. You'll have to "close" the transaction with the gift card, and then perform another transaction right after that would take care of the balance. The customer would then present a credit card or another form of payment.
