How can I get an Item Report by Category from the Point of Sale?

Hi! Is there a way to run an item sold report from the POS broken down by category? The cooks like to look at what they sold so they can better prep for the day. Right now, the report shows everything without the ability to filter out what they don't need. I can do it from the dashboard, but it would be super handy to do it from the POS. Thanks!

I am not sure which POS you are using and which device you are trying to have your cooks look at, Android, Ipad etc.

 

At the store we use the Square Stands with Ipads and Square for Retail, I am currently looking at my Android Cell phone to reply so the wording and placement might be different.

 

On the bottom is a Button Reports.... This opens a Reports Manu and I choose Sales... then I can choose the 1D 1W 1M 3M etc...

I am choosing 1D for this.  The date will be at the top of the screen which most likely will be Today, Nov ?, 2023 in Blue.  This is a link so you can choose a Different Day if you like.  You will see a sales summary, Daily Gross summarySales by Payments, Top Items, and finally TOP categories.  This only shows the top 5 but you can Tap the 3 dots on the right "..." that are in Blue and you can then choose to see top 10 categories.  You can also choose if you see the Gross Sales or Count of Sales.  Next to the name of your Category is a >  which will expand that Category to show all items sold in that category..... again by Gross or Count which ever was selected.   

 

I am not sure if you want your cooks to see how much $$ is being brought in as the Gross amount to your business tho.  

 

If I were you I would goto your dashboard download or export this from your Dashboard and email to your cooks to see, with Sales Counts not $$ amounts.

Thanks for the reply! This is exactly what I am looking for. The cooks would prefer a printout from the POS iPad so they can take it back to their stations, but I might be able to use their phones.

You are welcome, also if you have a Network attached printer you might be able to print that report from their phones or from the POS.   I know my Network attached Receipt Printer shows up on my Cell as being connected when I log into the Square POS but I never tried printing to it besides a Receipt.
